This past month there were many amazing film updates we want to share with our VMFA team.  First, we want to say thank you for continuing to remember our motion pictures.  On Facebook, we focus on helping others, communicating prayer requests and developing a strong online community.  This is the foundation for everything we do and we are seeing a steady growth now, well over 1300 prayer warriors and growing. Did you know this is one thousand more people than the V300 we originally projected? What a beautiful testimony to the faithfulness of prayer team members.

#BUTGOD

Jeremy, Emily and Caleb Freeman visited in Franklin with our team to discuss the next phase in building momentum for our "movement".  Kyros Entertainment shared their insights into the development of a master plan for the Freeman family. I am especially thankful to Rodd Huff, formerly from EMI for the amazing presentation we will be launching.

Please pray for the national organizations we are going tp petition in finding the basis for reaching 26 million young people in three years for the cause of Christ. We need real champions who will step up.

CORINA

We are moving into a film production pre-planning phase and have had meetings with Wendy Cooper, producer, Stephanie Musser producer and Corina Pataki for the beginning of the new film documentary.  We are thankful these ladies have been working diligently on funding and are preparing to begin this amazing journey together.

Beginning filming in August, please pray for the team as we seek locations, re-enactment venues, etc. We will be interviewing Romanian cast members from Tennessee and needing volunteers to help on the set.  This powerful story will impact so many.

SAND IN TUSCANY

With a deep felt loss, we are sad to report James Fred Camp passed away at 95. Our team had the honor of filming his story with the Camp and Segars family, thanks to Lorretta Segars, Jimmy Segars and Kirk Segars.  Kirk spoke at his grandfather's funeral and it was one of the most touching speeches we have ever heard.

Jim Gromer invested hours in creating a beautiful summary of Fred Camp's life for the funeral and while our team was unable to be present, because of your prayers and the faithfulness of Jim, Fred was honored. What an amazing man of God and continue to pray for us as we try to complete the documentary. God has this entire project and we believe in this ministry from the Segars family.

JOY IN THE MORNING FILM SCREENINGS

We asked you to pray last year for the JENNI KUFHAL story that was made into a feature documentary called, JOY IN THE MORNING.  The Executive Producers are sharing this fabulous film twice in the coming month.

July 19, there will be a screening in the Tulsa area at the home church of Jenni's brother. The WAY CHURCH is at 811 West Taft Avenue, Sapulpa, Oklahoma 74066 at 6:30 pm on Sunday night. If you are in the greater North West area of Oklahoma, you will want to come see this amazing film of an amazing family.

First Southern Del Cit will also be screening the film on July 28, so mark it on your calendars as this will be Heather Olive's directorial debut.  Heather has served alongside of our team for many years and we are thrilled for her. 

NO DOUBT, NO FEAR

The story of Billy Stanley is being enhanced by the powerful ministry testimony of David Stanley, the youngest Stanley brother and evangelist.  David Stanley Ministries is beginning to open up again and this promises to be a powerful new door as David's new book, BROKEN VESSELS is being completed.  We are so thankful for this opportunity to continue to extend Rick Stanley's legacy in these important ministry projects.

Please be praying for the right people, with the right resources and the right team to open up. Pray for the publishing industry as they begin to open their doors again, to receive this powerful telling of the most iconic entertainer who ever lived, Elvis Presley and his famous step-brothers, who were hidden most of his life.  We are thankful that Elvis always saw them as blood brothers and made that very clear to the entire family.

MORE THAN CHAMPIONS

Jag Gholson has continued to be faithful with FInTrust Capital Advisors as our senior advisor in all financial matters. His amazing story of MORE THAN CHAMPIONS embodies the Mark Smith basketball team coupled with the powerful story of Sam Oni, the first black student in the all white school at Mercer University. The film is set in 1963 and if ever there was a time when "hope" was needed in America during the Black Lives Matter movement, it is now.  Please be praying for this amazing story. 

ADVENTURES FROM THE BIBLE

Jim Gromer and Paul Conner a decade ago began talking about an animated film project and this began with Jim creating JESUS THE LAST SUPPER.  This film was the ethos of the relationship between Veritas and the Gromer family.  We wanted to give you an update on what is now titled, ADVENTURES FROM THE BIBLE. 

The first film, JESUS CHRIST will be the feature which launches an entire film series in the same spirit we did at NEST ENTERTAINMENT when we created the ANIMATED STORIES FROM THE BIBLE.  We are speaking with financiers now through Kathi Lee Parker, who has come on the team as a mediator for capitalization in this area.  Please keep her and Jim Herrmann in your prayers.  

OUR FAMILY OF FILMS

All the Oceania Omnimedia films have individual prayer teams assigned for every movie.  A huge answer to prayer has been finding the right economic partner to go on the journey with us as we seek an individual/group.  We are thankful for the patience of those who are behind SWORDS OF FIRE, JP KNIGHTS, WAR BRIDE, MAISHA BEA and beyond. 

JENNIFER WILLINGHAM

Next month will be the one year anniversary since Jennifer Willingham began working with Veritas Mission Film Association.  Together in this year, we developed MW Holdings, the place where all of our intellectual properties are held. Oceania Omnimedia is now the new film production brand with GRP Films and EPIC is our public relations and communications/marketing team.

We want to personally thank Jennifer, her family and the entire EPIC team for their insights in wisdom over the past twelve months. They have introduced our team to financiers, helped make presentations from Los Angeles to Graceland and have joined Jag Gholson in seeking financiers for what we are doing.

Our entire family of companies is entering a huge season in our corporate life. The next forty five days are going to be historical. This cannot happen without prayer. We can't expect God to be a spiritual bell hop and do simply what we ask.  It is important to seek the mind and heart of His will.  

There is a man who is mentoring me each day with daily devotions. He is a former coach that does not do this for credit, but each morning he sends me a scripture or an important lesson from God's word.  He spent months on Psalms 23 teaching me real lessons I had never thought about.  Why does he do this?  Love.

Right before Christ went to the cross, he gathered each of His disciples and had a very serious talk with them during a last meal they would have together. He told them this important message.  He said, "If you haven't heard anything I have said, I need you to listen to me carefully.  There are two things you should never forget and they are both about love.  First is to love your God with all your heart and the second thing is to love your neighbor as yourself.

When I stop to think of "how" I love God and how I love others, I so often fall short. It is important for me to keep reminding myself of the same lesson.  Love. It sounds so very simple, so why is it so very hard?  I believe it is because we are all so self absorbed about our agendas.  What are we doing to love God and others.

So to restate the obvious, I am asking the Lord today two questions. How can I love you more and how can I love others more?  A dear friend of mine instilled a lesson in my heart many years ago.  He said, "If you are faithful in the small things, God blesses in the big."  The problem with this alone, is that if our motives are to be religious and expect God to do great things, then our heart is not pure.

PRAYER

God help us all to be more in love with you, your Word and to listen to you more. Help us to love our neighbors more, because this is what you asked of us, knowing we would have difficulties in these areas. Thank you for sending people our way to love us to be more like you.  Forgive me when I fall short, when I don't spend enough time loving and help me in my journey with you and others.  In the name of Jesus of Nazareth, Amen.

As we plan for a wonderful forty five days, let us all begin in prayer. With the tragedy in this world of the recent demonstrations, unlawful killings, racist wrongdoings, let us together focus on love, not war.

During this Month of May 2020, we want to recognize and honor the first VERITAS MISSION FILMS hero we met over twenty years ago.  His name is Mincaye and he is known to Steve Saint as "grandfather" for his children. Mincaye and five of his friends killed five missionaries in the jungles of Ecuador and his father Nate was one of those five.

It was only a few days ago Mincaye passed into eternity after a long life in the jungles of Ecuador.

​We encourage you to watch BEYOND THE GATES OF SPLENDOR to see Mincaye's powerful story of life and death. His words are true and his voice of love and most importantly forgiveness is invaluable. 

BELIEVED IN THE BIBLE
This man left us with many life lessons I believe are absolutely essential for every day living.  He believed in the Bible. In fact, he waited most of his life for a Bible translation to come into his language, the language of the Waodani in South America.  He saw the truths of the Word of God and after his transformation into a new life of love, he changed.

THE VALUE OF PEOPLE
Mincaye taught us to not sweat the small stuff and realize living simply is best. He did not focus on the material possessions, on the size of his hut or on the small clothes he might wear that day. He felt people were more important than things and because of his lifestyle, he lived his sermon every day.

I will never forget in NYC, Steve Saint talking about when they took him to a really nice restaurant and while others ordered steak, he asked if they had monkey.  When they did not, he just simply ordered some corn. That was it for the whole meal, corn. 

HE LAUGHED A LOT
He laughed a lot and this was a hallmark of his life. He would get tickled and the twinkle in his eyes brought joy to all he met.  The joy he would bring to all when he got to laughing was contagious. He joked, he played and smiled with the most contagious personality anywhere.

HE WAS GENEROUS
Mincaye would give you the shirt off his back, but most of the time he didn't have one. He would share food from the table, even if the culinary experience would not be what you were used to having. He worked hard to be a hunter gatherer and provide for his family, so sharing was part of his nature. He didn't think of possessing, as he was too busy giving.

HE LOVED FAMILY
His family was the most important thing and he wanted to always be near his wife and all those who were close to extended family. He made you feel you were family and I will never forget the way he embraced his family. There was something magical about grandfather and everyone knew this.

HE KNEW HOW TO SAY HELLO & GOODBYE
When you saw Mincaye, he would laugh and smile with a big embrace. He always made you feel like you were the most important person in the world. I saw him last at Hobby Lobby for the anniversary of the films we made. When he hugged us, my heart melted again and I was reminded of the last thing he told me as I was leaving the jungle.

"Cade, if Wangongi (God) sees it well, I will see you again."  In one statement he said something so profound and so wise.  He knew God was in control and was not afraid of whatever God saw best.  The trust and the embodiment of Mincaye's faith was so completely summarized in this moment.

HONORING MINCAYE
We would like to honor our brother who is now with His Heavenly Father. We pray for the family of MIncaye, for the Saint family and also for the Waodani tribe. We have lost an amazing teacher, dentist, hunter gatherer, speaker, evangelist and teacher. He will forever be in our hearts.

I love you Mincaye and I will see you again, because God will see it well,

When I stopped to read the overview from last month in preparations for April 2020, I realized the unexplainable impact on what has happened to the United States and the rest of the world in 31 days.  The COVID-19 sweeping across our land and every land on the globe has radically changed everything.

This day I am sitting in my own home working and contemplating the enormous need for prayer.  Nobody on the news talks about prayers, until there is a catastrophe. It is almost taboo for the mainstream to even recognize the need for prayer, but I am so very thankful this is our foundation.

The virus has impacted every phase of our life. It's not just the quarantine, but the economic impact of every business in America, except the goods needed for the hospitals and the normal every day products like hand sanitizer, tissue paper and rationing of food items.

Social distancing has removed the hugs and pushed families apart during times of death. My pastor since I was five who baptized me, the reverend Jimmy Hoffman had a drive by funeral, with only ten people allowed around the gravesite service. It is a complete turnover in lifestyle.

So how do we react?

As people who believe in a Holy God and who pray, we continue to do what we have always done, but with much more fervor. We dedicate more personal time to our hope in Christ and we all recognize the need for healing. Our prayer community is now important than ever.

We are praying for every one of you who reads this blog. We want you to share it with others. If they do not have a community of prayer around them, we want to invite people to join us in prayer. I believe this is what makes everything different.

In the PASSION OF THE CHRIST, my favorite line of the movie was something Jesus said which arrested my spirit.  He said, "Behold, I make all things new".  Isn't it amazing how only Jesus can do this. Only Christ can turn this world around.  People who do not believe, will not understand what we are saying here. 

Remember to be safe and stay home. Upgrade your prayer time and invest more personal time with your God.  Read the scriptures and listen to worship opportunities and pod casts filled with hope.  Only dedicate a portion of your time to watching the news. Be more diligent in calling your family and friends and remember to check in often.  Clean your groceries and leave packages in your garage a couple days while discarding the boxes and keeping the trash outside. Wear masks in public and don't worry about the fashion statement and only leave home if you have to.

Last month was really busy with a variety of opportunities for media missions. We want to begin by thanking each day in and day out, the faithful V300 who continue to remember our activities in prayer, intercede for each other in Biblical community and pray for films that truly matter.

I STILL BELIEVE

Jennifer Willingham and the Epic Agency have been working with LIONSGATE and the Erwin Brothers along with Kevin Downes in making Jeremy Camp's new bio-pic called I STILL BELEIVE.  This wonderful film opens in over 2800 theaters this month and as a partner with EPIC and supporting films of family, faith and freedom, we want to invite our entire Veritas community to go opening weekend.  We are updating this to over 3000 screens making this film the largest film released in the faith based arena. 

You all know our team's commitment to these kinds of films and we celebrated when I CAN ONLY IMAGINE entered the market. We pray the same fervor and enthusiasm will extend into the hearts of all those who believe and still do not believe.

VMFA does not solicit funding from any movie company or ministry when promoting other motion pictures.  We do this only if we have a screener copy, personally know the people behind the film or have been exposed to the story.  No free solicitations or "likes" are posted on FB which are not "known entities". 

CORINA

About a decade ago our film team met a Romanian lady who had a powerful ministry, had served alongside of ministry with the late Jan Crouch from the Trinity Broadcasting Network and was making strides in broadcast, publishing and film. Her first book, QUEST FOR FREEDOM was the true encounter of her miraculous escape from a communist regime. Some time stories take time to "grow" and this was certainly the case again. 

Stephanie Musser is a seasoned leader with our team, but this last month, she scheduled an important face to face meeting with leadership to discuss a film franchise she believed was important to our overall success.  In her own spiritual journey, she felt very "called" for our team to review THE QUEST FOR FREEDOM. In fact there was no doubt God used Stephanie to talk about this amazing family of faith who now reside in Nashville, with our home base. 

Thanks to Corina, her producer Wendy Cooper Porcelli and the support from her husband Steve Pataki, the most bold film franchise encounter is about to take place in a dangerous part of the world. The Filmmaker's Roundtable has unanimously recommended her story be made into a feature documentary and possibly a feature film and we need your prayers.

FORSHIA - A FEATURE DOCUMENTARY

Since the screening of BUT GOD at the Regal Warren Cinema, we have been meeting with Forshia Ross regarding her transformation story.  We believe our V300 will be excited to come alongside of this ministry of healing taking place in the NorthEastern part of the United States in New England. 

Her ministry of speaking and teaching was birthed out of pain and we believe her brokenness and gifting will inspire all women and men with her powerful story of redemption. 

NATIONAL RELIGIOUS BROADCASTERS

Last week people came from all over the world to meet as the National Religious Broadcaster's convention took place at the Opryland Hotel in Nashville, Tennessee. It is an important time of the year for our team.  Jim Gromer, Stephanie Musser, Lynn McAfee, Jennifer Willingham of OCEANIA and many more connected.  

There were a series of meetings with distribution companies, filmmakers, financiers and more to have amazing meetings for our future.  Thank you for everyone's prayers.  The entire film slate is being reviewed with like minded people and so this is important for every movie and ministry, we are partnering with to share powerful results in the market.

CHRISTOPHER ATKINS

Film star Christopher Atkins flew into Nashville to meet with our team to discuss his journey from starring in BLUE LAGOON with Brooke Shields, through his personal journey of filmmaking, into a journey of faith.  What an honor to be with our friend, who was introduced to us by Greg Jillian, the Senior VP of MGM. 

He is a successful actor since his career launched with BLUE LAGOON.  Having a lot of experience in motion pictures, the financing and reviewing screenplay, he is interested in working with our team in future projects.  Please keep him in your prayers. 

MAISHA MEDICAL MISSIONS

This is an important time in our history as in the month of March, Beatrice Williamson will go back to Kenya to work at the www.maishaproject.org feeding children, providing medical missions, education and support to the slums.  Please be remembering Bea and the board of directors who will be meeting in the coming week to pray for and plan another successful African mission. 

THE TREND

Our prayer team is growing. Our film franchise is almost complete. Our season of assembling the armies needed to move forward is at hand.  Why is this happening at this time?  I believe it is because of the anointing of God in everything we are doing. We have been attacked, wrongfully persecuted, stood for Christ and are together thanks to the faithfulness of the V300.  

We have so many amazing franchises ready to launch and personally, I have never felt more of a calm assurance than before.  We are going to crawl, walk and then run together as a team toward the most important horizon.  Building a monolith is not for the faint hearted.  Many people give up, but we feel called to step out in faith and have done this in so many areas.

VMFA has exciting ministry news on the forefront in our February update.  This past weekend, Caleb and Jeremy Freeman have been speaking in Ardmore for a Disciple Now Weekend, so continue to remember them in prayer.  Also, the Freeman family will be speaking at Jayne Jayroe, the former Miss America at her Esther Women's Bible Study on February 5. Our own Dr. Kevin McAfee will also be appearing and showing the new movie trailer and a segment to introduce the segment in Oklahoma City.  Please remember to continue to pray for the speaking ministry of the Freeman family. 

MAISHA PROJECT

As you know, we are partnering with the Maisha Project again this year and we need your prayers for the children in Kissimu Kenya, our board of directors and more. With over 900 children we feed every single day, every penny counts and we need your prayers. 

TRIP TO LA

Jennifer Willingham is Dr. McAfee's new partner in a brand new film production company, Oceania Omnimedia, a multi-dimensional platform with films, music, digital and publishing products. The team travels to California this month for studio film meetings, recruitment of Executive Producers, meetings with distribution companies and more.  Please remember all of the films with an underpinning of faith who have been working with GRP Films, now being placed under the new brand of Oceania.  

Jeff Roman, Jennifer Willingham and Dr. Kevin McAfee will be securing visionary leaders to join in the crusade.  This process is beginning with America's first families of faith and will be intersecting with true leaders who believe in legacy.

BUT GOD MOVIE - This is the feature documentary scheduled for film festivals and a Fathom Event in 2020.  The powerful film has all kinds of momentum from the national television networks. Hollywood film professionals and initial distribution interest.  

JESUS THE LAST SUPPER - Jim Gromer and the team have been working diligently to get the full length animated feature ready for creating the most Biblically accurate animated story of Christ ever created.  

SAND IN TUSCANY - The amazing documentary inspired by Lorretta Segars wonderful book. WWII had a military theater largely ignored by cinema since the Italian campaign, but the 88th Infantry was heralded for their valor and highly decorated.

UNSHACKLED - Rescued Ministry has an exciting ministry based film surrounding emotional and spiritual bondage. Everyone needs to be rescued in life and this exciting screenplay is the highest priority.

SPECIAL PRAYER REQUESTS

Lorretta Segars continues to need our prayers as she faces the cancer cells which remain in her body.  She is the author of the book SAND IN TUSCANY and a contributor to WAR BRIDE, our WWII film.  Please continue to remember to pray for her.

Prayer is needed for JP KNIGHTS and Beth Lambert as we get closer to visiting the Pennsylvania area working to finalize our film production opportunities.  The timing is perfect to be involved in this amazing supernatural fantasy adventure. 

Zion McAfee has been prayed for by the VMFA and her chemotherapy begins this week in Oklahoma. She is twenty months old and is daughter to Michael and Lauren McAfee, Dr. McAfee's oldest son and daughter in law. Please pray for her as she is treated through Christmas.

RESCUED MINISTRY

Tom Stewart has begun a prison ministry called RESCUED MINISTRY and this men's ministry is focusing on Tom as he shares his testimony of personal abuse into a life of victory under his faith in Jesus Christ.  Tom is training other churches to be in ministry and deeply appreciates everyone's prayers.  He has placed Dr. McAfee in a strategic ministry position ministering to men. If you have a need in this area, please contact us today.

MAISHA PROJECT

JESUS THE LAST SUPPER

Jim Gromer's family has come alongside of JESUS THE LAST SUPPER in a major way as we begin to share the story of Jesus in a full length animated feature.  We would ask you pray for Paul, who is Jim's brother in law who is head of animation at the University of Colorado.  He has been working with DISNEY and PIXAR for many years, so we are honored to have him on board.  

BOOK OF CHAMPIONS

Dr. McAfee worked with Sarah Sutton and several leading ministers and apologetics experts on a definitive Character Study that contributed to his being conferred an honorary doctorate from the Latin University of Theology.  Kevin was inspired by Tom Hill from Character First to write a Biblically based study and place this in a sports Bible called, the BOOK OF CHAMPIONS.

Thank you for being a huge part of our ministry and mission.  Thank you John Dickey and Jeremy Freeman for being part of our three-stranded chord.  These pastors help lead our team at VMFA with spiritual oversight.

Today, John Kyle did the sermon for his father, who passed away this week. I want to dedicate this blog to a lifelong friend who had his own trials as a young man.  John grew up an athlete and had great difficulties in controlling his temper and more.  He was on a path leading to destruction when everything changed in his life. He met God and found a real relationship in the person of Jesus Christ.  

John has been a dear friend for the majority of our lives. We both lived together when we were out of college and he always showed me the power of what it meant to know God. I am asking for all who are part of our VMFA film prayer warriors to join his family in prayer.

Also, we been working with an amazing PR firm this week, the EPIC AGENCY who is led by the CEO and Co-Founder Jennifer Willingham.  Jennifer and I knew each other when she was at Simon & Schuster Publishing. I am so honored to have her working with VERITAS MISSION FILMS and on the #butGOD feature documentary.  

I would never have believed Caleb Freeman's story would appear on NBC Nightly News two weeks in a row, and we are so thankful.  Now, we have been invited to become part of THE DOCTORS on the Paramount CBS Studios lot in December.  We will share the details moving forward.

We are also thrilled to be working on a new film project entitled, THE AMERICAN VETERAN. The Executive Producer from Colorado has been in contact with us about the details, so keep us in your prayers during this time.

There are many wonderful praise reports for this past month I would like to share.  First, we want to thank you all for praying for VMFA and for all of our non-profit efforts.  Because of you, we have had many success stories and praise reports far beyond what we could dream. 

FOUNDER BEATRICE WILLIAMSON

I am personally thankful for MAISHA and the GALA we want to report on in this blog of VMFA.  Beatrice Williamson is one of the finest people we know. One year ago, we got involved in her life in the most dramatic way. She became an inspiration when we heard her story an was drawn to make a movie about her life. We talked about MAISHA BEA as a name for the project, but we never expected what would happen.

Through a series of events Bea needed a new board of directors and we were invited to become a part of her story. As a direct result, I was elected to be on the board to learn more about this ministry.  VMFA has always had many non-profit ministry partners so we funded a table at her last event in OKC.

As a result, we were able this past year to be a servant of the board in this journey.  In one night, due to the hard work of so many people, we received over $104,000 in gifts.  Can you believe it?  This means, for every $10,000 given, 80,000 meals can be served.

Did you know that Maisha has served almost 2 million meals to African children? It is so very true. 

A SPECIAL THANK YOU TO MICHAEL MCAFEE & HIS LEADERSHIP

If it were not for my son, Michael McAfee, I would never have been involved with this ministry. Our oldest son spoke at the Gala several years ago inspiring them to reach others.  This year, United States Senator James Lankford spoke and so knocked it out of the park with his love and concern for others.  I could not be more proud of all those who have been behind the scenes making everything possible. 

A SPECIAL THANK YOU TO BEAR MCAFEE & FRONTLINE

When I joined Maisha, I found out that FRONTLINE CHURCH, one of the finest leading churches in all of OKC has been a past supporter of this organization.  This was before I became Chairman and I am so thankful for his serving under Josh in this amazing church.  We appreciate the leadership Bear provides in his pastoral studies too.

So as you can see, this is a "family thing" when it comes to MAISHA, even my father attended the Gala this year and it made me proud to have the McAfee men reaching out to orphans in Africa.  Even my neighbor Doug Paisley, Brad's father supported Maisha, with my lifelong best friend, Bob Hoffman and the entire UCO Men's Basketball Team.

Wow, what an honor to have all of this happening, so thank you prayer warriors for remembering MAISHA in all you do.  

A SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT

Michael and Lauren came home from China a few days ago with Zion Laurel McAfee!  So as a grandparent, I am proud and so very thankful for her arrival into America.  She is an amazing young lady and we look forward to her enriching our lives for decades to come.
